Caring, educating and transforming: Safe, Equitable and High-Quality Schools

We are implementing actions to contribute to the creation of safe, violence-free environments in educational institutions located in the most vulnerable neighbourhoods of the departments of Montevideo and Canelones, where more than 50% of households experience at least one unmet basic need and multidimensional poverty affects 31.4% of the population. Our work focuses on strengthening the capacities of teaching and school leadership teams to develop protocols and policies with a gender perspective, aimed at ensuring safe spaces for students. It also includes providing training for families on positive parenting practices. In parallel, we implement academic catch-up programmes and socio-emotional skills development initiatives, incorporating innovative pedagogical practices that enhance both learning outcomes and students’ well-being.
